NILES- Regis W. Strohmeyer Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1929 in Niles, OH, son to the late Edward and Anna (Schirf) Strohmeyer. Regis was a Benedictine High School graduate and a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952. On June 30, 1951, Regis married the former Rita Marie Ramsey and they would go on to celebrate the next 64 years together. Regis worked as a appliance repairman at Mullees Appliance Store until 1991. Regis was a member of the "Barn Stormers," a model airplane flying club and he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and telling jokes. Left to celebrate Regis's memory is his loving wife, Rita Marie Strohmeyer; his children, Rita (John) Montis, Regis (Patricia) Strohmeyer Jr., Dianne (Zephra) Frye, Eric (Sharon) Strohmeyer, Celeste (Mother Theodora) Strohmeyer, Lorraine (John) Magulick, Catherine (Mark) Rosine, Gregory (Robin) Strohmeyer, Mark Harvey (son-in-law), Rebecca (Chris) Prusha, and Otto (Theresa) Strohmeyer; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren: and his sisters, Billie Cox, and Martha (Sister Estelle) Strohmeyer. In addition to his parents, Regis is preceded in death by his daughter, Charmaine Harvey; his brothers, Walter, Ray, Clem, Edward, Ira, Virgil, Paul, and Herman Strohmeyer; and his sisters, Coletta Griffin, Dorothy Girodat, Geraldine (Sister Loretta) Strohmeyer, Florence Strohmeyer, and Evelyn Strohmeyer. The family will receive friends from 4PM-8PM on Monday, February 29 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield-Niles Rd., where closing prayers will be held on Tuesday March 1 at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, March 1, at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., starting at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may send condolences to www.lanefuneralhomes.com .
